Acer Tataricum ginnala
Acer tataricum ginnala, commonly known as Amur maple or Tartarian maple, is a small deciduous tree or large shrub that offers a charming presence in landscapes. This versatile and hardy tree is known for its attractive foliage, showy flowers, and vibrant autumn colours.
Description
Amur maple typically reaches a height of 15 to 20 feet (4.5 to 6 meters) with a spread of about 15 to 25 feet (4.5 to 7.6 meters). It has a rounded or spreading form, and its multiple trunks can give it a bushy appearance if left unpruned.
The foliage of Acer tataricum ginnala is one of its standout features. The leaves are palmate and composed of three to five lobes. In spring and summer, the leaves are a fresh green colour, providing a lush backdrop. As autumn approaches, the foliage transforms into vibrant shades of red, orange, and sometimes even purple, creating a stunning display of fall colours.
Another notable attribute of the Amur maple is its showy flowers. In spring, clusters of small, fragrant, yellowish-white flowers bloom, adding a delicate charm to the tree. These flowers give way to winged seeds known as samaras, which are often displayed on the tree throughout the summer.
