Description
Catalpa bignonioides ‘Aurea’ (Golden Indian Bean Tree) is a striking deciduous tree prized for its large, heart-shaped golden-yellow leaves that bring a bold splash of colour to the garden from spring through summer. In early summer, tall panicles of showy white flowers with purple and yellow markings appear, followed by long, bean-like seed pods that hang decoratively into winter. With its broad, spreading crown and exotic appearance, this tree makes an excellent specimen in lawns or open spaces.
Best grown in full sun for the richest leaf colour, it thrives in moist, well-drained soil and sheltered positions.
