Magnolia ‘Big Dude’ is a showstopping magnolia hybrid, living up to its name with enormous, tulip-shaped flowers that can reach up to 30cm across. Blooming in early to mid-spring, its striking blooms are deep pink-purple on the outside and fade to soft white within, often nodding gently under their own weight. This deciduous tree forms a strong, upright vase-shaped habit, eventually reaching 5-8m tall. Ideal as a statement tree in lawns, borders or mixed planting schemes. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Hardy and elegant, ‘Big Dude’ brings dramatic early-season colour and structure to any garden.
